Nets 100 and 101...
Ronaldo was on sensational form and broke the deadlock after only three minutes with an excellent free-kick struck from some 25-yards out. It was a fitting way to find his 100th goal in a United jersey.
Stoke responded fairly well and battled hard before United doubled their advantage with the Portuguese star turning provider. Carrick, surrounded by Stoke defenders, picked up Ronaldo's pass and fired home an excellent finish from the edge of the penalty area.
Carrick's goal moments before half-time proved the sucker punch for Stoke and United cruised home after half-time. The result was put beyond doubt as Berbatov volleyed home, before substitute Welbeck made it four and Ronaldo completed the rout with another free-kick.
The result leaves United third in the table - eight points behind Chelsea and the Scousers, but holding a crucial game-in-hand. Next weekend's trip to Villa Park is already looking a crucial game - Martin O'Neill's men winning 2-0 at Arsenal this weekend to underline their own ambitions of a top four finish.
