Poll: British Olympic Football Team for 2012?

Footie team?
By Chris, August 28 2008
The prospect of a British Olympic Football team at the 2012 Games in London has caused great controversy. The idea is backed by officials at the Football Association but the other three home nations are sceptical – with Scotland, in particular, voicing opposition to the proposal. With Sir Alex Ferguson the government’s choice to lead Team GB, our latest online poll asks your thoughts on the issue.

The return of a British football team at the 2012 Olympic Games has been attracting plenty of column inches in recent weeks.

Scotland have voiced outright disapproval of the idea, the Welsh FA aren't keen and Northern Irish officials are lukewarm on the idea.

However, the F.A are keen to push the idea forward with Sepp Blatter suggesting that the UK may have to enter a team with English-only players.

ManUtdWeb supports the idea of a British football team on two conditions.

a) All four Home Nations should have the chance to be represented.
b) It doesn't undermine the status of the four individual nations participating in competitions outside of the Olympic Games.

What do you think? Vote in our poll to have your say.
