Dong named in China's Olympic squad

Starts in August
By Chris, July 17 2008
Manchester United forward Dong Fangzhuo has been named in the China squad for next month's Olympic Games. The striker, who has just recovered from a knee problem, will be hoping to find a goalscoring touch which could lead the host nation to medal success this August. Dong has just three Manchester United appearances to his name since his arrival at the club.
Dong, 23, missed the final three months of last season with a knee injury - but has been passed fit to play in the Olympics in Beijing.

The player is expected to play a feature role in China's 22-man squad for the tournament which takes place between the 6th and 23rd of August.

Dong looks certain to play against Red Devils team-mate Anderson as China have been paired in Group C along with a star-studded Brazilian squad; plus New Zealand and Belgium.

Brazil are determined to win the gold medal in Beijing and have named Robinho and Ronaldinho as allocated 'over-age' players in an impressive squad.

Both Anderson and Dong could miss the start of United's season should their respective nations advance from the group stages.

China and Brazil do battle at the Shenyang Olympic Stadium on the 10th of August. The final is thirteen days later at the National Stadium.
